Day 8? (I don't remember): Una Cervesa
Well...today I had my first beer in Nicaragua. It's called Victoria Frost and it's brewed right here in Nicaragua! It was ridiculously refreshing. After that I had some 12-year aged Nicaraguan rum called Flor de Cana. It was also delicious. It was a nice way to end a fun day.
Today we went to the work site, finished up some work, then handed out beans and rice to people in the area. It was quite nice to be able to give food to people and tell them "God bless you." Plus we got to give it away with Hugo and Bryan (brothers who used to live at the Remar orphanage but left this year). Seeing old faces is quite refreshing.
Speaking of which, when I was taking a nap this afternoon at the Peace & Hope Trust, the girls arrived and woke me up with a surprise: they had brought Alex (who is about my age and usually translates for us) back to the house to hang out for the afternoon. It was awesome. Cool day for old friendships to be rekindled.
On top of that, we found the only Harley Davidson store in Nicaragua so I could get a T-shirt for my brother (who will be ecstatic beyond words). I have had a blast here but I can't wait to get home and see all of you again...I'm actually a bit homesick.
Love and Excitement,
Patrick
