A Few Days of Leadership Training

Hey guys. It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged. I’m primarily microblogging on twitter. My username is JDPCrew. You can follow my more regular comments there.

But today I wanted to make sure I share with you all some of the things I’ll be learning over the next few days. I’ve been invited to participate in a leadership collaboration in Minneapolis for the next 6 months. It’s a few days a month for 6 months. I’ll be meeting with some of the best church planters and leaders in the EFCA. Some of the pastors who I’m joining with are pastoring churches around our size and facing similar obstacles that we’re facing.

The training sessions will revolve around ways that we can move our church to the next level of growth and multiplication of the gospel. I’m not sure of a lot of details as of yet, but anticipate that it will be more pragmatic in nature. This can be be good or bad. Knowing the heart of the EFCA and the leaders involved, I’m counting on the former. I want cross centered practicality, don’t you? I want an intentional strategy that is reliant on the power of the gospel.

So we’ll evaluate things like systems, multiplying leaders, facilities, setting strategy for our future.

I’ve mentioned lately that I feel we are at a pivotal place as a church. It’s time to move from the cute chaos of a new church to the need to grow up and get more organized. I’m hoping that things like this collaboration will be helpful. We’ll see.
